Week 1 Resources
Course Overview
What is Persuasion?
Persuasion is a form of influence in which individual or group beliefs and/or actions are changed. The changes may be prompted by intrapersonal communication (an individual convincing themselves) and/or an external persuader (which may range widely--see above diagram).
How does Persuasion work?
While there are many theories about how Persuasion works a good place to start is the Elaboration Likelihood Model. A "model" is a diagram of a theoretical process. After watching this video about the ELM in class draw your own diagram of the Elaboration Likelihood Model.
